Man who was set to go on trial for raping 16-year-old girl beaten to death in front of cheering crowd
A man who was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl, was murdered before he had a chance to stand trial, according to police in the United Kingdom.
Essex police have charged a man with murder following the death of 49-year-old John Masser of Basildon.
Steven Keeble, 36, of Moss Close, is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court.
Officers were called to an assault at the junction of Moss Drive and Moss Close, at around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Witnesses at the scene said that a crowd cheered as Keeble was beating Masser.
He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
He died on Tuesday.
A coroner said that Masser died as a result of a brain hemorrhage.
Masser has been accused of raping a 16-year-old girl.
He appeared in court, where he denied the allegations.
Masser left behind three children.
